Georg Winkel appointed International Fellow by Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry
This appointment was effective on 9 November 2023. Georg received the fellowship certificate at the academy’s commemorative meeting in the Stockholm City Hall on 28 January.
The Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry was set up in 1811 as a platform for dialogue between science and policy on key issues of relevance for forests, agriculture and conservation in Sweden and beyond. The academy has three sections: General, Agriculture, Forestry, each comprising Swedish fellows, honorary fellows and international fellows from research, internships, administration and business, who represent the academy in their personal competences. Within each section, there are 70 positions for Swedish fellows and 25 positions for international fellows.
Georg, who describes himself as ‘a forester, social scientist and environmentalist with a keen research interest on human nature interactions and a desire to help to create better future policies through critically analysing the current ones’, looks forward to being a member of the academy’s large international network, and to engaging in its topical discussions.
Georg joined Wageningen University as chair holder of the Forest & Nature Conservation Group in November 2021.
