Freek Karacoban won a pitch prize during the first edition of the 4TU.energy PhD course

Freek Karacoban, a PhD candidate of BCT group, won a pitch prize during the first edition of the 4TU.energy PhD course “Sustainability, Systems, and Societal Aspects in Energy Transition”

The 4TU.energy PhD course tackled multiple aspects related to the energy transition, including societal, technological and logistical challenges & opportunities. During this multi-disciplinary course many people from different fields came together to discuss ideas.

Freek's work was about combining CO2 sorbents and catalysts into a single material: a dual-functional material. This could be used to capture CO2 from air and convert it to chemical building blocks or energy carriers, offering alternatives to fossil resources.
