Free online courses with certificate
EdX partners joined forces and allow each other’s student and staff to take their courses completely free of charge during the corona crisis. Wageningen embraced this initiative and therefor everybody with a WUR account can get full access to one of the many online courses from institutions like Microsoft, TuDelft, Harvard, MIT, IBM, RWTH Aachen University, Tecnológico de Monterrey, and many more.
Get a certificate
Usually MOOCs on edX are, for the most part, free. However, any graded question and the certificate upon completion isn’t. With this initiative, staff and students can request a coupon code that grants free access to the paid parts of a course allowing you to earn a certificate ad no costs. EdX traditionally has many academic courses, but there are also courses like Learn to program in Java, Visualizing data with Excel, Designing and Creating Skirts, Ancient Masterpieces of World Literature, Strategic Management and much more!
How to join?
Check the list of all participating institutions. If you click on a name, you see all courses by that institution. Browse through the catalogue and find the ones you like. Send an e-mail from our WUR account with the link (url) of the course(s) you would like to join to wageningen.x@wur.nl and request a coupon code. Mention you are an employee. You will receive a code that grants access to the ‘paid’ content of a course, known in edX as the ‘verified track’. Upon successful completion of the course, you will receive a certificate for free.
Activation deadline
Please keep in mind that the coupon needs to be activated before 30 June. However you can start (and finish) the course at any time after that date. Each course has it is own deadlines that still apply. You can check those in the course itself.
