During the Conservation Genetics Workshop, organized by New Mexico State University, USA, in the scope of conservation genetics and data management, Parveen Kumar had the honour of coordinating a workshop session titled "Collaborative Knowledge Management Ecosystem: Embracing Open and FAIR Data Management Practices in Biological Conservation."
This three-day workshop united over 180 participants from various countries, showcasing the global dedication to advancing biological conservation with effective data and knowledge management practices. Parveen’s session aimed to focus on the importance of adopting responsible and effective data management practices, emphasizing the application of the TAPS and FAIR principles to enhance data accessibility and foster innovation in conservation efforts.
The audience was a dynamic mix of researchers, practitioners, and policymakers, all eager to learn and know about responsible data management strategies into their work to develop more informed and effective conservation strategies.
This presentation was an extension of Parveen’s ongoing collaboration with the WDCC team, focusing on knowledge management and FAIR data management capacity building alongside Lukasz Grus. It is also integral to the KB Knowledge Management project I am working on with Jan Dirk Bulens Daoud Urdu Hannelore Heuer and the rest of the team. Additionally, this work was also connected to Parveen’s collaboration with Prof. Michel Dumontier's team at Maastricht University, focusing on FAIR and Responsible Data Management.
