Teachers2Learn is a large NRO project (regieorgaan Onderwijsonderzoek) studying how teachers learn while working on or in educational innovations. The project examined 33 case studies in the Netherlands and the Boundary Crossing @ Wageningen University & Research (BC@WUR) project is one of them. The BC@WUR project is explored as an example of how teachers learn, and what teacher development activities are used, in the context of implementing new education.

The Teachers2Learn project identified three types of teachers professional development in combination with educational innovations:

  1. Initiative aims to implement a new kind of education: teacher learning is a means to this end (of which BC is an example);
  2. Initiative aims to support teacher professional development: innovations are the spin-off; and
  3. Initiative aims at stimulating innovations: teacher learning is a side effect.

Based on these three types, a typology is made of how teacher learning in organised and characterised.

On the Teachers2Learn website all cases, but also the literature review and case comparisons can be found: https://teachers2learn.nl/index.php/praktijken/

All the cases examined in Teachers2Learn are also described on Onderwijskennis.nl. This is a platform for teachers (of all educational levels), that aims to bring scientific educational knowledge to teachers in a practical and applied manner.
