Wageningen Youth Institute students bake plantbased burgers on Youth World Food Day
Senna, Mirjam and Anke, winners of the Ideal Burger Challenge of Wageningen Youth Institute, baked their plantbased burgers and offered them to administrators of municipalities, ministries and voedingscentrum.
High school students from all over the world took on the challenge to create and promote a tasty plant-based burger! They followed lectures by students from Wageningen University and started baking with special food tech ingredients.
On October 16, the winners baked their burgers with chefs on the grounds of the World Food Center in Ede, during Youth World Food Day. Mirjam and Anke's Carrotcake vegan burger and Senna's Mister Lupini burger were offered to various administrators.
The administrators of ministries and various municipalities in the Netherlands, including Wageningen, Ede, Amsterdam and Rotterdam, got the chance to taste the tasty burgers and talked to the students. The City Deal for a healthy and sustainable food environment was also signed.
