Writing understandably for a general audience (B1 level)
In this course, you will learn how to adjust your writing style to make your texts easier to read. You will learn how to remain focused on the core of your message and how to translate complex issues into everyday language.
Approach and content
This course consists of two sessions and will provide you with the tools you need to write texts that are to the point and easy to read. You will work on exercises and your own texts in a focused way, receiving feedback from the trainer and other students.
After the first session, you will receive an assignment for the next session.
After this course, you will:
- Know the difference between language levels;
- Know what an appropriate language level is for your target audience and message;
- Be able to write in short paragraphs;
- Be able to make explicit connections between sentences and between paragraphs;
- Write in short sentences;
- Use high-frequency, easy words;
- Know when a formal or informal style is appropriate;
- Know when to use the active or passive style is appropriate.
