Inclusive language

If you want everyone to feel included, and you want your message to really get through, it is vital that you use inclusive language. This is language that treats people equally. Language that does not differentiate between level of education, skills, he/she/they, colour, religion, disabilities or any number of other things if they are not relevant. In this workshop, you will become aware of common pitfalls and learn what to look out for to ensure your language use does not exclude anyone. You will receive tips and guidelines for writing and speaking inclusively. Besides ‘othering’ and asymmetric language, imagery is also covered, among other things. You will work on your own texts.

Why take this course?

You will learn to avoid making (groups of) people feel excluded by your choice of words or wording. You will work with your own texts in this workshop.
