Exchanging feedback in dialogue
Feedback is incredibly valuable for communicating and working together effectively. However, giving and receiving feedback properly is not easy. How do you give clear feedback without compromising on your relationship or working relationship? What factors should you take into account? How do you deal with the feedback you receive? In this workshop, you will get tips and tools for giving and receiving feedback in an enjoyable, effective and inclusive way.
Content and structure
In this half-day workshop, you learn how to exchange feedback, taking into account each other’s backgrounds. Topics covered include:
- Raising awareness: the goals and effects of feedback
Giving feedback:
- Timing and selecting feedback
- Separating observation and interpretation
- Feedback on the product, process and behaviour
- Receiving feedback: responding to feedback
- Feedback as interaction, respectful dialogue between feedback giver and receiver
- Meta-communication and agreeing on feedback
- Intercultural differences in communication and feedback
- Creating a healthy feedback culture as the basis for a safer working environment
- Practising feedback interviews using the dialogue-based method
Who is this workshop intended for?
For anyone who understands the importance of feedback and wants to be able to exchange feedback clearly and respectfully. Think about people collaborating or learning in teams, or those in hierarchical relationships, like manager-employee, lecturer-learner and supervisor-PhD candidate relationships.
