NL Scholarship (for outgoing students)
The NL Scholarship for outgoing students is made available by the Dutch Ministry of Education Culture and Science together with Dutch research universities and universities of applied sciences. It is meant for students who want to study, do research or an internship outside of the European Economic Area (EEA - all EU countries plus Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein).
For whom?
The NL Scholarship is available for students of Wageningen University who want to study, do research or an internship in a non-EEA country. Students going to Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Curaçao, Aruba or Saint Martin can also apply for the NL Scholarship.
Scholarship amount
The scholarship is a one-off payment meant as a contribution towards your study expenses.
Please note that the amounts can differ per academic year.
Round 2 of the academic year 2024/2025: € 2500
Round 1 & 2 of the academic year 2025/2026: no participation in NL Scholarship by WUR
Requirements
- You are enrolled in a full-time programme at Wageningen University during your study, internship, or research abroad.
- You will use the scholarship for studying, doing research, or an internship with a minimum duration of 7 weeks and a minimum of 10 ECTS.
- Your study, research, or internship will take place in a non-EEA country.
- Students with a GPA above 80% are encouraged to apply.
- In case of research or internship, you need to provide proof of acceptance. If a scholarship is granted, awardees will receive more information on where and how to submit this proof.

You need to apply for the NL Scholarship at Wageningen University.
Round 2 (academic year 2024/2025)
Outgoing students who are leaving in Semester 2 (Period 3, 4 or 6 - between 6 January and 15 August 2025), can apply for this scholarship during the second round. The deadline is 1 January 2025.
Wageningen University is not participating in the NL Scholarship for the academic year 2025-2026 (Round 1 & 2).
