Visiting researcher grant
WASS provides funding for felllows who want to invite an external researcher. The visiting researcher grant is meant for esteemed researchers with a PhD degree, who will be hosted by two or more WASS chair groups. The grant will cover expenses up to 1500 € per month including travel costs. The grant will be administered via the involved chair groups. A visiting researcher may benefit from a visiting researcher grant only once.
Conditions:
o Visiting researchers who are invited for a PhD thesis committee by a chair group are not eligible for reimbursement of travel costs. WASS may fund extra expenses in case such a researcher extends his or her stay for participation in a WASS activity
o Stay up to a maximum of 6 months
o Substantiated and clear added value to the research of the hosting groups: at least two chair groups have to be involved in the application
o Active contribution to WASS and WUR scientific community (e.g. PhD course, workshop, seminars, lecture, in consultation with the WASS Education Coordinator); research activities with a link to one of the 4 WASS themes.
o Application for the same visiting researcher is possible only once every five years
o Priority setting will be based upon:
- Quality of the researcher (derived from CV and list of recent publications)
- Proposed contribution to the activities of the WASS community
- Expected results in terms of establishing international networks or longer lasting work relations
A short evaluation report (1/2 A4) describing concrete results will be sent to WASS after completion of the visit.
All fellows of WASS may apply for these grants for visiting researchers (continuous application) by sending the application form on this webpage to the WASS Office including a short CV of the proposed visiting researcher.
