I like that I was able to combine these two perspectives, as I have benefitted from this in my career as a consultant in the field of logistics as well.
Already during high school I noticed that I liked playing around with numbers, This predisposition for maths further developed during my bachelor Business and Consumer Studies, when I took courses such as Advanced Supply Chain Management and Econometrics, and during MME, as I was able to dive deeper into ORL. For my thesis I created an inventory-keeping model using reinforcement learning, which was the perfect combination between prediction (econometrics) and optimisation (ORL). I like that I was able to combine these two perspectives, as I have benefitted from this in my career as a consultant in the field of logistics as well. While my colleagues with a more extensive background in econometrics might know more about the quantitative side of things, I can place our models and solutions in a broader perspective which is helpful for the client.
