Inspiring learning environment - Water Technology
Wetsus is situated in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands. By inviting all the researchers to one location, maximal cooperation and creativity is generated.
Education forms the foundation of this top research environment, where eighty percent of all national research into water technology is carried out. Thanks to the close interaction with major professional players in the field of water technology when defining research topics, our students have the unique opportunity of developing professional and research skills simultaneously. The programme prepares students for a position in which research plays a major role, as a tool for problem-solving, design and innovation. Graduates have very good national and international career prospects in business and research.
The innovation lab Wetsus is located at the WaterCampus Leeuwarden, which offers our students unique opportunities for personal development. The environment is characterized by a relatively high density of independently owned and globally exporting water companies. Together with Water Alliance and the Centre of Expertise Water technology, Wetsus drives the development of WaterCampus Leeuwarden. WaterCampus Leeuwarden is the physical core of the Dutch water technology sector and has the ambition to play a sector uniting role for the rest of Europe as well. WaterCampus stimulates cooperation between (inter)national businesses, knowledge institutes and governments within the water technology sector, in order to create synergy for world class innovation, education and entrepreneurship. This strengthens the global position of the European water technology sector. Additionally, WaterCampus offers a unique research infrastructure, and is a meeting point for scientists and companies from all over Europe.
