Step 3: How to apply for an exchange period?

Applications for the Academic Year 2025-2026

The deadline for participation in the selection round has passed (January 31, 2025). Fortunately, there are still many exchange spots left. Students can apply for these on a first-come, first-served basis.

Deadlines:
Apply for exchange in semester 1 of 2025-2026 before April 30, 2025.
Apply for exchange in semester 2 of 2025-2026 before September 30, 2025.

We recommend that you apply as soon as possible.

How to search for an exchange spot

    • Open the Exchange spots left list to search for exchange universities of interest. Look carefully at the faculty or department indicated, plus the extra details in column E.
    • To determine whether a university is a good choice for you, look for possible courses you would like to take at the host university.
    • You do not have to write a motivation letter.
    • Don't forget to notify the exchange coordinators that you submitted an application, by emailing to outgoing.exchange@wur.nl.

    Start your application

    1. Go to Osiris Student.
    2. In the left sidebar, click on the globe icon (Stay abroad requests).
    3. Click on the plus sign at the bottom right of the screen to start a new application.
    4. Select your current study programme.
    5. Select 'Study exchange'.
    6. The start and end dates are pre-filled for the entire academic year, you do not need to change them.
    7. Enter your preferred university or universities (you can submit up to 3 choices).
    8. Specify the number of universities you have entered and choose the correct faculty or department.
    9. For each university, specify the period of the exchange (Sep - Jan corresponds to our first semester, Jan-Jun corresponds to our second semester. The exact months of your exchange may vary depending on the host university).
    10. For each university, indicate which courses you are interested in. These are not the definitive courses yet.
    11. Indicate which study phase you will be in during your exchange.
    12. Select your Study Adviser at WUR.
    13. If applicable, you can upload proof of language proficiency (only for German, Spanish, Portuguese, or French. It's not necessary to upload proof of English proficiency).
    14. If you are a master's student who did not pursue a bachelor's degree at WUR, please upload your bachelor's diploma with grade list.
    15. Indicate if you need extra facilities during your exchange.
    16. Indicate if you agree to share your e-mail address with other WUR exchange students. If you agree, we will bring you in contact with other students going to the same exchange destination as you.
    17. Indicate that you agree with the use of your personal data.
    18. Don't forget to submit your application.

      After your application

After you have submitted your application, please notify the exchange coordinators (outgoing.exchange@wur.nl). We will review your application within about one week.
