Public transport in the Netherlands

Timetables

Travelling by train is the quickest way to travel between cities in the Netherlands. Make sure you plan your journey beforehand!

General advice for using public transportation

  • Download the app: "NS" or "9292". It will help you to find the fastest/ cheapest connection.
  • Buy your ticket on the "NS" app or at the yellow ticket machines in the station with a debit or credit card.
  • You need a ticket to scan at the gate to be able to enter most station. Note: Schiphol Airport does not have these gates as well as Ede-Wageningen.
  • If you are planning to travel more often in the Netherlands, it is recommended to buy an anonymous OV-chip card. You can load money on these cards, and they give you a cheaper fare.
