WUR Social Sciences Societal Impact Day
On the 6th of February, the Social Sciences Group (SSG) will host the WUR Social Sciences Societal Impact Day. This event is designed to showcase the societal impact achieved through social sciences, both within SSG and in collaboration with our external partners and clients.
The world faces pressing challenges—from climate change to social inequality—in a context of increasing polarization. During this event we will jointly explore how SSG can address these urgent issues by conducting impactful research activities, alongside researchers from other fields and our public and private partners. We will also explore how we can further strengthen our societal impact in the coming years.
Event Objectives:
- Highlight the indispensable role of social sciences in tackling society’s most critical challenges.
- Showcase inspiring examples of impactful research and collaborative efforts within SSG.
- Engage in meaningful discussions with external partners on creating societal impact.
Event Format:
- Morning Session (Internal Programme): The day will kick off with an internal session with SSG director Joost de Laat, and SSG researchers will present inspiring examples of their work. During interactive workshops, we will explore various dimensions of societal impact and discuss how we can strengthen and expand our efforts.
- Afternoon Session (External Programme): In the afternoon, we will open our doors to an inspiring keynote speaker, external partners and clients. Together, we will discuss how our research can help address urgent societal issues and explore opportunities to enhance the impact of social sciences.
Join us for this exciting event as we demonstrate how social sciences can provide solutions to today's polarized world, transforming challenges into opportunities for positive change.
