Live demo: ready-made meals robot

Interest in sensors and robotics within agri-food has grown enormously in recent years. This is thanks to a leap in technology development, but also due to the shortage of personnel within the sector.

As part of the NXTGEN HighTech programme, Vision+Robotics experts have taken on the challenge to see if they can develop a flexible robot that assembles (salad) meals. “Robots can take over the role of humans in more and more places in food processing, especially if we succeed in collecting and packaging all the loose ingredients of salad meals, packets of soup ingredients, and nasi vegetables with a machine,” says Paul Goethals of Vision+Robotics. Come see a live demo of the first developments in this research project.

Lectures: what’s hot in agri-food and implement management for autonomous robots

On Thursday 6 June from 11:30-12:30, Vision+Robotics programme manager Erik Pekkeriet gets you up to date on what’s hot in agri-food: with the latest in sensor development, unsupervised robots, opportunities for teleoperation, smart robot applications, accelerating R&D through synthetic environments, and more. Senior researcher Ard Nieuwenhuizen shares why implement management for autonomous robots is a must-have to make completely unsupervised machinery in arable farming fields possible.
