Summary

This thesis explored the impact of COVID-19 pandemic to Indonesian tourism. In doing so it delved into power dynamics of Indonesian tourism policymaking and development in the discursive and practical realms. By incorporating a critical power analysis, this thesis seeks to unravel how COVID-19 mitigation strategies and the responses from stakeholders are influenced and determined by the existing structure of power and the competing interests of the parties involved. This thesis project contributes to the ongoing effort to comprehend what the future holds for tourism in the post COVID-19 pandemic era as well as in a broader endeavor of envisioning tourism in a post-capitalist society.
