COP27 side event: Scaling financing of sustainable saline agriculture

The film Food+ Water - Stories of Impact is a call to action on the need to scale sustainable saline agriculture in order to contribute to climate adaptation and mitigation through resilient water-soil practices. Salinity, aggravated by climate change, currently represents a serious threat to agriculture.

Organised by Wageningen University & Research
Room Water Pavilion at COP27

Estimates predict that 50% of all arable land will become impacted by salinization by 2050. By including systems approach saline agriculture solutions in climate strategies of governments as well as international financial institutes, scaling of impact solutions already on the ground will help the poorest farmers, often women, as well as decrease competition over resources such as land and water.
