Would you like to help the next generation of graduates to kickstart their career? As a JobTalks volunteer, you:
- graduated from WUR (BSc or MSc) less than 5 years ago
- work in the field related to your study
- preferably have a broad network
- are willing to share your experiences and network
- are good at English
Boost your network and give back
Joining the Alumni JobTalks programme allows you to share your valuable experiences and network with current graduating students, providing guidance as they transition into their careers.
Being a JobTalks volunteer not only means you help others; it offers you a unique chance to reconnect with and give back to Wageningen University & Research, while also expanding your own professional network.
By dedicating just 1 to 3 hours per month, you can get in contact with eager students, who may also be interesting candidates for vacancies within your company. Participation is easy and can be done from the comfort of your own home at a time that suits you.
Read more about being a volunteer below.
How does it work?
Through the UniBuddy chat platform, students can connect with an Alumni JobTalks volunteer of their choice based on study background, field of work, current role or location, and ask them for career advice or academic and industry insights. Students will be able to ask questions such as, “How do I find my first job?” or “What is it like to work in your field?”.
As a volunteer, you can respond at your own convenience. The role is flexible, easy to fit into your schedule, and can be done from any location. The level of engagement is entirely up to you, whether you prefer to simply answer questions through the chat platform or to offer further engagement such as virtual meetings or even a company visit.

Pilot phase
This programme is currently in its pilot phase until 15 March 2025. This means that it is difficult to predict how many students will make use of the opportunity to speak to alumni.
We will monitor the use of this function and will evaluate it after the pilot phase.
