The NWO grants are geared to three phases in a researcher’s scientific career:
- Veni: offers recently promoted researchers the opportunity to further develop their ideas over three years. The grant amounts to a maximum of 250,000 euros.
- Vidi: aimed at post-doctorate researchers who have successfully and innovatively conducted research at postdoc level for several years. They can develop their own innovative line of research. The grant amounts to a maximum of 800,000 euros.
- Vici: for excellent, highly experienced researchers who have successfully developed an innovative line of research. The scientists are among the top ten percent of their research field. In addition, they have proven that they can act as a coach for young researchers. Vici laureates can establish their own research group. The grant amounts to a maximum of 1.5 million euros.
