Explanation of study expenses
Tuition fee: the statutory tuition fee that applies to EU/EFTA students is determined by the Dutch government and applies to students who meet the nationality and the degree requirement.
The institutional tuition fee for non-European students is set by the Executive Board of Wageningen University. The definite amount of tuition fees of 2026-2027 will be determined in the course of 2025.
Living expenses: this amount, determined annually by the IND, is required
for the daily expenses, housing, food, books, study-materials, clothing, computer
materials etc. If the University applies for the student’s residence permit
(non-EU/EFTA students), the University has to prove to the IND that the student
has sufficient financial means. Therefore these students are required to
transfer twelve months living allowance in advance to the university as a
deposit. Once the student has opened a Dutch bank account the total amount will
be transferred to this account.
Student Insurance: in the Netherlands everybody is obliged to be
insured. To fulfil this obligation the premium is invoiced as well. The
university will take out this insurance, so the student will be well insured
during the study period at our university.
Dues for residence permit: non-European students are obliged to have a
Dutch residence permit. As Wageningen university offers you this service, an
advance payment of these costs are required. Only after receipt of the total
costs of the invoice, the university will start the visa and legal residence
application.
Note: non-EU students without a European IBAN bank account have to open a Dutch bank account. As this may take a few weeks, these students are advised to bring a credit card or cash, 500 to 700 euros, for expenses in the first month.
Part-time Online master's
The part-time online master's programmes at Wageningen University may take 3 or 4 years to complete, depending on how you want to do your thesis and internship. The general structure is a 2 year part-time course programme of 30 credits per year, followed by a tailor-made internship in year 3 and a master's thesis agreement in year 4. If you are able to spend approximately 40 hours per week in the third year on your internship and thesis, you can finish the programme in 3 years.
You can find the tuition fees for EU/EFTA and Non-EU/Non-EFTA students for the online master's programmes on this page. The travel and accommodation costs for the Wageningen Weeks are not included in the tuition fee and in the estimate of costs. Incidentally you will also need to buy a book for a course that is not included in the tuition fee.
