Alumni stories
After graduation
A successfully completed programme offers graduates excellent opportunities to work as a consultant, researcher or specialist in the scientific or professional domain of the Earth Sciences or Environment in general. Our graduates can also pursue a scientific career at universities and research institutes. They are very attractive for engineering and consultancy firms, governments and governmental institutions such as governmental water authorities and meteorological institutes (in the Netherlands: Rijkswater- staat and KNMI). Our graduates are found all over the world, working as hydrologists, meteorologists, water quality scientists or soil scientists, to name a few disciplines.
About 83% of our graduates find a job within 6 months after graduation, and 41% already have a job on their graduation day or find one within a month after graduation, as shown in Figure 3. Figure 4 gives an overview of the job types and sectors. The distribution of students over the four specialisations A, B, C and D is 40:20:20:20. Specialisation A, Hydrology and Water Resources, is more application-oriented, and many of the graduates find work at consultancy firms. However, graduates from all specialisations can easily find work in or related to their fields of study.
