Community for Education Innovation with EdTech

Community for Education Innovation with EdTech

Do you have a great idea to innovate and enhance your education with a new IT tool (EdTech), but do you need help bringing your idea to life? Apply for an innovation experiment with the support of the Community for Education Innovation with EdTech!

The Community for Education Innovation with EdTech aims to support teachers that want to experiment with new IT tools (EdTech) in their education in the best possible way. Next to that, we try to prepare as well as possible for a possible scale up of the new IT tool within WUR at a later stage.

Have any questions? Take a look at our FAQ below.

How to apply for an innovation experiment with EdTech

  1. Step 1 Idea

    Step 1: Idea

It all starts with your idea regarding educational innovation with an IT tool (EdTech) that is not (yet) in use at WUR.

The idea can come from anywhere: other teachers, conferences, through the Redesign Lab, etc.

  2. Step 2 Draft

    Step 2: Draft

You then draft a (short) proposal and send it to the Community for Education Innovation with EdTech. To make it easier for you we have created an online form with the most important questions. You can find the form here.

Remember, we are always there to assist you, so feel free to reach out if you need some help!

    Conditions for subsidy
    • The project concerns an experiment aimed at educational innovation with EdTech that is not (yet) in use at WUR and similar functionality is not already available. For implementation of proven innovations, other budgets are available
    • The project plan contains a clear strategy for evaluation and dissemination (e.g. 4TU.CEE Innovation Map, WUR Teachers Day)
    • The project plan is supported by involved programme directors
    • The project team cooperates with the Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC), the Education and Learning Sciences (ELS) group and the Community for Education Innovation with EdTech during the realisation of the project
    • The pedagogical aim of the experiment does not contravene the WUR Vision for Education
  3. Step 3 Intake

    Step 3: Intake

This is where we meet, talk about your proposal, clarify expectations and decide on next steps. Also, we can answer all the questions you might have!
  4. Step 4 Enhance

    Step 4: Enhance

Here we both do some work. You brainstorm with people from TLC and ELS and enhance your proposal with their input.

On our side, we discuss your proposal with Procurement, Privacy & Security, IT and Communications and we also check the contracts.

  5. Step 5 Submit

    Step 5: Submit

We combine the work we have done and submit the proposal to the Innovation Board.
  6. Step 6 Review

    Step 6: Review

The Innovation Board reviews and (hopefully) approves the proposal. We will keep you posted on the outcome!
  7. Step 7 Support

    Step 7: Support

This is where we make the proposal come to life. We create a team that will support you during the experiment.
  8. Step 8 Test

    Step 8: Test

This is the actual experimentation phase in which you test the new IT tool (EdTech).
  9. Step 9 Evaluate

    Step 9: Evaluate

At the end of the experiment the evaluation report will be created, based on the evaluation approach as decided upon (in cooperation with ELS) during the drafting of the proposal.
  10. Step 10 Share

    Step 10: Share

It is important to share your experiences, knowledge and results with other teachers from WUR.

We might meet up with some other interested teachers and we will share your experiences on our website.

  11. Step 11 End

    Step 11: End

This is the moment where the experiment comes to an end. If the experiment wasn't what you expected, that is great, we have learned something new!

If the new IT-tool (EdTech) did give you everything you were looking for, we will help you draft a proposal for (possible) further implementation.

If the experiment was a success, but more research is needed, the experiment can be repeated (ideally over several courses).
