Participatory structure

Employee and student participation in plays a key legal role in policy development for the Executive Board and the Managing Directors of the organisational units.

Decentral Works Councils

Each Sciences Group has a Decentralised Works Council for employees of Wageningen University and Stichting Wageningen Research who work within that Sciences Group. In addition, there are Decentralised Works Councils for Wageningen Food Safety Research (WFSR), Corporate Staff and Facilities & Services. The Decentralised Works Councils consult with the Managing Directors of the organisational unit.

Central participatory councils

Wageningen University & Research has three central participatory councils. In the Central Works Council (COR), members hold seats delegated by and from among the members of the Decentralised Works Councils of the five Sciences Groups, WFSR, Corporate Staff and Facilities & Services. The Student Council and the Student Staff Council (SSC) are central participatory councils of Wageningen University. The Student Council consists of students and has a term of one year. The SSC consists of five employees of Wageningen University who are delegated by the Central Works Council, supplemented by two directly elected employees of Wageningen University, two directly chosen PhD candidates of Wageningen University and at least six students who are delegated by the Student Council. Students and staff have an equal number of votes in the SSC.

The COR and SSC meet jointly as the WUR Council. The statutory participatory rights rest with the COR and the SSC. The central participatory councils consult with the Executive Board.
