Scholarships for international master's students
Wageningen University aims to attract talented international students to its international classroom by offering several scholarship opportunities. Below you will find an overview of the scholarships available for prospective international MSc students.
General information
> The scholarship programmes offered by Wageningen University are for prospective students only. WU does not offer scholarship programmes for students who are starting their 2nd MSc year.
> The scholarship selection procedures for the academic year of 2024-2025 (September start) have been completed.
Scholarships based on invitation

Excellence Programme
With the Excellence Programme, Wageningen University aims to attract excellent students who have a prospect of doing a PhD after their MSc graduation.
For who | International MSc students from outside the European Economic Area (including Switzerland) starting an MSc programme in September 2025 who have unconditional admission. |

Scholarship amount | Tuition fee waiver for 24 months. |
MSc application deadline | 1 February 2025. All MSc applications that have been submitted before this deadline will be assessed by the selection committee. |

Africa Scholarship Programme (ASP)
The Africa Scholarship Programme offers talented and motivated students from Africa the unique opportunity to pursue a master’s degree at Wageningen University.
For who | International MSc students from Africa starting an MSc programme in September 2025 who have unconditional admission. Preference is given to students who have not obtained a master’s degree yet. |

The Anne van den Ban Fund (ABF)
The Anne van den Ban Fund allows talented students from developing countries to study at Wageningen University. The scholarships are assigned to students in close cooperation with the university and are combined with the WU Fellowship Programme.

NL Scholarship
The NL Scholarship is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, Dutch research universities, and universities of applied sciences. Students eligible for this scholarship are students from selected countries who are applying for the first year of a Master’s programme at Wageningen University.
Unfortunately, Wageningen University is not participating in the NL Scholarship for the academic year 2025-2026.

DUO - Study Grant (only for EU-students)
Are you enrolled in a higher education course in the Netherlands? Then you might be eligible for support by a performance grant, a loan and a public transport student card.

Wageningen University has an agreement with the Fundación para el Futuro de Colombia (COLFUTURO). COLFUTURO is a non-profit organization supported by both private and public sectors. Wageningen University has an agreement with Agencia Nacional de Investigación e Innovación (ANII). ANII grants scholarships to talented residents of Uruguay to pursue an MSc- or PhD degree at Wageningen University. The agreement between WU and ANII can be viewed here.

The Nuffic NESO and the Scholarship Portal offer an online search engine for those who want to study in the Netherlands and are looking for financial aid. The websites contain information on a range of Dutch scholarships for foreign students.
Many international organisations, such as various United Nations agencies, the European Union, the World Bank, regional development banks and private foundations provide scholarships or fellowships for studying abroad. Please inquire at the offices of these organisations in your country/region or consult their website.
